Walking in the Spirit There is no great mystery to "Walking in the Spirit." It's as simple as Romans 12:2. Renew your mind! Walking in the Spirit means to walk and interpret through the Word, and not your own ideas. There are really three steps, if you will, to getting there: First, Salvation!, Second, Walking in the full understanding of Righteousness and not from the flesh perspective, and Third, Replace ALL of your own thoughts with His Word. Most of you are saying “I got that”, but not so fast… What do you do when sickness comes? Or how about, are you experiencing financial lack? How about fears or worries, etc.…? All of these symptoms are signs that you are NOT walking in the Spirit. WHY? Because walking in the Spirit, means your mind is renewed to the Word on all of these issues. Once your mind is renewed to the Word, these things will no longer be present in your life. Now I am not saying all of this to bring you down, but rather to lift you up and give you a path to run on. The first thing you must know about walking in the Spirit is that everything in the Spirit must first be received by faith. There is no way for you to study yourself INTO the Spirit. That is where most people will miss it. They try to study the Word to gain intellectual increase and knowledge. When there is nothing in the Word of God that can be gained through the studying of information without first receiving the Word by faith. Because, everything in the Word, everything in the Spirit, all that God is!, must be accessed by faith or not at all. To help you grasp this, you must first be aware that God already sees you in the Spirit and through the Spirit. Your body is in the natural realm, and your flesh contains sin. Therefore, God cannot look upon your flesh. All that your flesh has ever done has never been seen by God. The reason is because He walks not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. He instructs us to see no man after the flesh, but after the Spirit only! He is looking at what He created in your spirit, not what you have created in your flesh. "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remain in him: and he cannot sin, because he's born of God." (1 John 3:9) Therein lays the freedom of righteousness and the key to walking in the Spirit. As soon as you recognize that you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, the sooner you will be able to realize that whatever is in the Word, describes who you are through the eyes of God. In looking through the Word to find yourself, you cannot look at yourself through your eyes, but through the eyes of the Word. If you begin to do that, you begin to understand what it means to walk in the Spirit. So let us say that you understand the concept of righteousness. Let us say you are even walking in righteousness (which means you're walking free from sin). Then how do you take yourself to the next level? You take all of your fleshly habits, all of your fleshly thoughts and interpretations, and replace them with the Word of God. For instance, when there is sickness, what is your response? Do you stand on the Word of God for healing or do you pop a pill? If your mind is renewed to His Word, and you're walking in the Spirit, then you stand on the Word and believe God for healing rather than taking a pill. Or, you have bills that you cannot pay, do you worry and fear? Or do you stand on His Word knowing that God will supply all of your needs according to His riches in glory… To stand on His word in times of financial struggle, rather than fearing and worrying, is to walk in the Spirit. To stand on the Word of God, rather than believing your fears, IS the Word of God in action in your life, which means Romans 12:2 has been activated in your life. Some people are reading this and believe I am taking the Word of God too literal, but that is their excuse for not laying down their flesh and awakening to their Spirits. The Bible declares that all the promises of God are “Yes and Amen”. (11 Corinthians 1:20) Those promises belong to me in all areas of my life! Those promises belong to you in all areas of your life! But those promises are only yours and only belong to you, when you have taken the time to receive them by faith and renew your mind to them. So that in the middle of the storms, they are all that you see. So what will you do? What you are currently doing isn't working. Why not give Gods system a chance! And walk by faith and not by sight…
