The Only Thing That is Important! What is really important? If you think about this life, you probably think of all the things that are included in this life. For example, your home, your cars, your possessions. Maybe you think about your career, your savings, or your retirement. Perhaps when you think about this life, you think about your family and friends. Do any of those things really matter? I know it sounds cruel to say, but none of those things matter, but for the here and now. What of those things can you take with you when you are gone? Certainly if your family is saved, then they will be with you but it will be of their own choosing and not yours. So then what in life is actually important, or what in life lives beyond the Grave? It’s very simple… Faith! Everything that you have done in life, done by faith, you can take with you. What you must understand, the Bible describes this life as nothing but a vapor. Yes, a vapor. That is how insignificant your life is today compared to your life in eternity. We live here for how long? 80, 90, 100, 110, 120 years and that’s all! Yes, this is all. After that, we live in eternity forever and ever! Would it not then make sense to prioritize our lives in accordance with “The Forever” instead of ‘The here and now?' Now I’m not saying that the things I have listed above are not important. I’m merely saying that in the overall scope of things, they are not as important as doing the things of God. If you look at my life, you would see that I value all the things I have listed above… But I value His Will more. In His will, all things that we value here… are made better by Him! He wants you to live in the nicest home, drive the nicest car, and have the biggest savings account. He wants you to have a stellar retirement plan, peace and prosperity over your family and essentially to prosper in all that is concerning you. “Because he came that you might have life and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). So the relevance of the things listed above, are indeed relevant to the Father, but what is really important? In John 5:30, Jesus answers that question, “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me” What is important? Simply put…Doing the will of the Father. By doing His will, he not only prioritizes this life for you, but you also make better the life to come! By doing His will according to the Word, you not only receive things that you find important in this Life, but you lay up treasure in the heaven with Him. I often say “The only gift we have to give is the life we have to live”. Give Him your life afresh and new today. He will wrap His arms around you; solve the problems that you are currently facing today. He will lead you into preparing for your tomorrow! Seriously, what is really important? Only the will of God! And He has a perfect will for you; all you must do is call on Him! Run to Him today. Tell Him your life belongs to Him; all you have, and all that you are… is His and His alone. You can then say along with Paul “for me to live is Christ, for me to die is gain”. (Philippians 1:21) He loves you with an everlasting love, and He wants to use that love on you right now! Give Him what is really important, and the only thing He wants…. You!
